HAWAI'I COUNTY CIVIL DEFENSE AGENCY

The role of Hawai'i County Civil Defense Agency (HDCA) is to direct and coordinate the development and administration of the County's total emergency preparedness and response program to ensure prompt and effective action when natural or man-caused disaster threatens or occurs anywhere in the County of Hawai'i.

THE PROBLEM

The sudden availability of US Department of Homeland Security ‘war time’ grant monies following the events of September 11, 2001 has placed a strain upon local governments to manage paperwork while complying with Federal, state, and local purchasing regulations. Additional comprehensive documentation requirements place even greater burden upon resources that previously did not have access to funds outside of established budgets.

Because of the complexity of regulations and the time pressures associated with applying for and then managing grant expenditures in an auditable format, a knowledge management solution is required to empower individuals to accomplish their roles in the grants management process.

THE WISDOMSOURCE SOLUTION

To meet the challenges of document and process management, WisdomSource has provided Hawai'i County Civil Defense Agency with one year of grants management support that includes the oversight of the completion of ODP (Office of Domestic Preparedness) grants paperwork.
